And dish them out their bill o' fare,
Auld Scotland wants nae skinking ware
-Robert Burns 'Address to a Haggis'
There is something wonderfully surreal about the notion of addressing a haggis (or haggii, be there more than one). Tomorrow night, (25th January) in honour of Burns Night, Michael in his be-kilted finest will be officiating haggis-addressing, the toasting of lassies and general whisky imbibing at our first Burns Supper.
The menu is a three course affair, featuring traditional Scottish dishes (including the indispensable haggis!) with each course matched with either a Scotch whisky or a microbrewed Scottish beer. There will also be rousing poetry, whisky fueled toasts and general merriment.
Dinner shall be followed by Athole Brose and a premium whisky tasting of 4 Scottish malt whiskies. There are still a small number of spaces left though advanced booking is required. Bookings may be made by emailing mulligan.grocer@gmail.com or calling 01 670 9889.Location: L. Mulligan Grocer, 18 Stoneybatter, Dublin 7
Time: 7pm
Cost: €45 per person which includes all food, whiskies, ale and be-sporraned gaity.
Sounds brilliant, really looking forward to it. When you say "Athole Brose" though, do you mean the drink version or Cranachan?
ReplyDeleteHi! We mean the drink, though dessert includes a cranachan option. It is a slightly more wintery version with spiced apple and blackberries.
